What Is Love?
In short: Everything! Love has everything to do with our christian walk with Christ.
1 Corinthians 13 says that love suffers long and is kind. Love doesn't envy. Love doesn't parade itself, it is not puffed up and it does not behave rudely nor does it seek its own. Love is not provokes, it thinks no evil, it doesn't rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
We've all heard this scripture quoted a million times and is used frequently at weddings, but have we stopped to think the level of depth that these words actually convey?
This is true love at it's finest. If we need more of a Biblical picture regarding the showing of love, then we should look no further than John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
He shows us the true definition of Love!
Obedience Shows Love
As a follower of Christ, we should obey the Word of God and be quick to respond to God's word, quick to obey, and quick to answer God when we feel Him prick at our hearts.
We shouldn't hesitate when the spirit speaks to us because we don't know what we might miss if we are not obedient. Obedience is an outward showing of our inward love towards Christ.
"Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me." -John 14:21
Birth a Passion for Christ
Our passion for Christ should be strong. When we take the time to acknowledge the love He has shown us; the unconditional agape love; the love that surpasses any earthly love we might receive from our parents, spouse, children, friends, etc; then this should birth a passion for Christ in our hearts!
When we truly consider the things He has accomplished for us on the Cross, then that alone should birth a passion in our hearts for Christ. 1 Chronicles 23 says to "Stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at evening."
If He does nothing else for us (which He will), if He doesn't answer a single prayer (which He will), then He deserves a lifetime and eternal praise from us for what He accomplished on the cross.
