Notes from the PLAY/PAUSE season (Episodes #17 - 19)

__________________________________________________________________________________

Recently, we started a brand new Podcast series titled Past, Present and Future.

The idea of this series is to separate it out into seasons dedicated to the past, to the present, and to the future. We just wrapped up Part II of this series where we focused on the present in a season titled PLAY/PAUSE. The purpose of this season is to look in the present on important truths we must understand to be a powerful follower of Christ. In these episodes we discussed The Story of Salvation, Understanding the Holy Spirit, and we ended with an episode focused on Operating in Wisdom and Faith.

Part III of the Past, Present, and Future series began Wednesday, June 10, 2020 focusing on the Future in a season titled FAST FORWARD.

The Story of Salvation (Part I - PLAY/PAUSE)

In Part I of the PLAY/PAUSE season we discussed salvation. Everyone's Christian journey begins at the moment of salvation. But salvation cannot take place unless we have a savior.

We are a flawed and sinful people. The Bible says that there is not one of us that is good; no not one. And in order for us to be made right with a righteous and holy God there needed to be blood shed in order for our sins to be atoned for... Enter Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one can come to the Father unless they go through Him. So in this episode, we take a journey through the Bible and discuss the story of salvation.

In the Old Testament, the Law of Moses was introduced and in that Law we read a temporary solution for the remission of sin. And then in the New Testament we read about, the Messiah, the Cross of Calvary, and the work Jesus accomplished on that tree which birthed the new dispensation; the church age, which we are living in now.

He is the reason, as Christians, we no longer have to sacrifice lambs on the altar during church services - because the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world, shed his perfect blood that can cover the entire world once and for all. He only had to die one death for us. Thank you, Jesus!

But we must enter into this grace and mercy (which cannot be earned; it is a gift) by acknowledging our sins, asking for forgiveness of our sins, believing in what Christ accomplished on the Cross, and then living for Him thereafter.

In this episode, we discuss this in much more detail and I hope you take time to check it out!

Understanding the Holy Spirit (Part II - PLAY/PAUSE)

In Part II of the PLAY/PAUSE season we discussed who I believe to be one of the most misunderstood characters in the Bible: The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit plays a pivotal role in our Christian walk with Christ. In fact, it is the Holy Spirit's conviction and drawing that even causes us to recognize our sins and seek God's forgiveness.

In this episode, we discuss all the roles the Holy Spirit plays in the lives of believers - and He does play a lot of roles. We also hopefully address some general misconceptions and misunderstandings surrounding the Holy Spirit as well!

I don't want to give away too many points here, but suffice it to say, this is an episode I think we should all remind ourselves of. But don't let our study end there! Keep on seeking out more of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Because the Holy Spirit will always point us straight to Jesus, which is who we all need more of in our lives!

Operating in Wisdom and Faith (Part III - PLAY/PAUSE)

In Part III of the PLAY/PAUSE season we discussed how important wisdom and faith is for us in the here and now.

As we continued focusing on the Present, we concluded this series by taking about some of the trademark attributes of the Christian mentality: operating in wisdom and faith.

As believers, it was by faith in Christ that we were saved. But it shouldn't stop there! Wisdom is equally as important, and we break down these two words in great detail using the Bible as our spiritual compass.

The book of Proverbs is the wisdom book, so we spend some time looking at a few scriptures there! We should all have a healthy dose of wisdom and faith in our lives, even when we are at our lowest. Arguably, it can be our wisdom and faith that can make our valleys seem not so deep, and make the mountain seem much more attainable!
